OrderPicker Truck
DistribuTek Leaning Center
OrderPickers or "cherry pickers" are used primarily for filling individual customer
orders, requiring "piece part" picking, rather than full pallets
or
loads. The versatile design of the truck allows for handling of a variety of items,
ranging from small items, such as individual auto parts or drugs, to larger bulky
items like bicycles or mufflers. OrderPickers allow for case picking and consolidation
into a unitized customer order while the operator remains on the truck in the aisle.
Faster travel, lift and lower speeds reduce order picking time, the most labor intensive
materials handling function. Their maneuverability in very narrow aisles and high level "picking capabilities" enables you to take full advantage of limited storage space. These trucks are designed to optimize throughput in the warehouse with increased
lift, lower, and travel speed capabilities. OrderPickers are often used in VNA environments
for case picking and replenishment functions, due to their small width and ability
to work with wire guidance. A scaled down version of this truck, also known as a
"Low Level OrderPicker" is also available. This truck works in much the same manner
as a full height OrderPicker, except that it is only capable of rising to the second
or third pallet level. These trucks are sometimes preferred for their lower price
tag, particularly in facilities with low ceiling heights. |
