Hand Pallet Jacks are perhaps the most primitive tool in materials hand ling, but are very useful in select applications. It is used to lift, maneuver, and transport a pallet load of material short distances. The forks are elevated by pumping the handle, resulting in a maximum vertical lift of 6 to 10 inches. Because of their simplistic design, hand pallet jacks are used for transporting loads very short distances in a low throughput system, or in many cases, as a back-up for more efficient industrial vehicles. They are, however, among the least expensive material handling tools.
